About metal sculptures

Why is a metal sculpture the price it is?

First you have to have the idea and work out how to make it.

The costs: are high as every individual piece has to be made for the sculpture.

You need a workshop, with power, various tools, guillotines, grinders, cutters, compressors, welders, plasma cutters, heating torches and numerous other things. You then have the consumables, cutting disks, grinders, welding gas ( which is expensive) welding wire, various tips for welding and plasma cutter, gloves, drills, bolts, paint and more.

Safety equipment of various types and an air supply as welding gas is dangerous.

Then you need new steel to make it. The sculpture when finished has to be transported and collected from the galvaniser, this costs over £100 then there is the cost of galvanising. This, even for a small sculpture can cost in total £300. Then there is the time to make it, any electrician or car mechanic will charge £30 to £50 per hour, I have to charge the same to make a living.

Then there is the sculpture price as an individual piece of Artwork.
